Exhibitions

Except for commissions, I hardly ever set out to paint a picture in order to sell it. I paint just because on a particular day I have come across a scene that I strongly want to paint. If I am happy with the result I frame it and put on the wall, if I am not, then I discard it. Inevitably I soon find that I have no more wall space and so I pass another batch of paintings out for sale.

Galleries

There is a well established gallery in Stoke Mandeville, "Obsidian Art", www.obsidianart.co.uk, which runs a series of themed exhibitions running for about a month each. I was invited to submit paintings for several of these exhibitions from 2004 onwards. The first of these exhibitions for 2008 is themed on "Views of Buckinghamshire and the Chilterns" and runs from Friday 1 February to Sunday 17 February.; I will have about 9 or 10 paintings there.

Solo Exhibitions & Open Studio Exhibitions

For several years now I have held two three day "open Studio" exhibitions, one in May and one in September, at my Isles of Scilly Studio at my cottage, "Morva" on the island of St Mary's. For 2008 I plan to do this for May 19 to May 11, then from July 11 to July 13 and again in early September from the 12th to the 14th.

For the past few years I have exhibited as part of the "Bucks Open Studios" scheme, where over 100 artists from all over the county and neighbouring counties open their studios to the public. For 2008 I plan to open my studio under "Bucks Visual Arts" again. Venue and dates are:

At all these exhibitions I set up my equipment and paint so that my visitors can meet me and also see the "artist at work".

Art Society Exhibitions

I also exhibit regularly at the exhibitions of the Buckinghamshire Art Society, Beechwood Artists, Cookham Arts Club and at various other selling exhibitions in Buckinghamshire and neighbouring counties. Exhibition dates and venues so far announced for 2008 are:

All of the above Exhibitions provide the opportunity to experience original paintings in their true colours and textures and true scale, properly framed and presented, and to study the paintings in detail.
