This painting arose from a day out on a pheasant shoot at the Shotover Estate, near to the city of Oxford. It was a cold clear morning with skeins of mist lying across the fields. The rich, soft tones of the winter landscape attracted me as did the collection of farm buildings which form the focus of the painting.
